Pre-escritura con la Caja de Luz

                                     

No es ninguna novedad que las cajas de luz se han puesto muy de moda. Al igual que con el frasco de la calma, se dice de la caja de luz, que es un material Montessori. Voy a destrozar un mito, ni el frasco de la calma ni la caja de luz son Montessori. No aparecen en ningún manual, libro o reseña de la Dra. Montessori ni de su hijo Mario quien continuo con su labor. 

Desde mi punto de vista,  tanto la Caja de Luz como el frasco de la calma, carecen en si de algunos elementos básicos que caracterizan los materiales Montessori.

Con esto no quiero decir que este en contra de ellas, es mas decidí probar, experimentar y ver por mi misma porque tantísima gente esta incluyendo este material en las aulas o en sus casas y construí una siguiendo una tutorial que encontré online.

De esto hace un año mas o menos y a parte de la primera semana , en que si que la usamos , la caja de luz no ha visto mucha luz.

Hace unos días una de las princesas, 3 años y medio, en pleno periodo sensible de pre-escritura , estaba trazando en arena algunos patrones de ziz-zag, lineas curvas y rectas que tenemos al lado de los resaques metálicos. Cuando tuvimos un momento eureka! 

Rescatamos la caja de luz , cogimos los patrones , papeles cortados a medida que siempre tenemos a disposición de las princesas y lapices de colores. Esto es lo que sucedió.

En cuestión de 15 minutos ya había echo un montón. Al acabar hicimos un librito. De portada y contraportada usamos un papel de color de la misma medida y grapamos todos los patrones.

Lo que mas me gusta es la confianza en si misma que ha adquirido y lo orgullosa de ella misma que estaba. En el video podéis escuchar, susurrando para no molestar a sus compañeras, I did it! I did it! lo cual se traduce: lo hice! lo hice!

Pre writing with a light box 

It is nothing new that that light boxes have become very popular. It is said that calm down jars and light boxes are Montessori but neither of them are. They do not appear in any of Montessori’s manuals, books or reviews neither in any of Mario Montessori’s books who continued with his mothers work.

From my point of view both, the light box and the calm down jar  lack  some of the basic elements that characterize Montessori materials.

It doesn’t necessarily mean that I’m against them or that I think using them goes against Montessori principals so much so that I decided  to try, experiment and see for myself why so many people were including this material in their classrooms  or  homes and I decided to built one following a tutorial  I found online.

For the first week the light box became a favorite material for many of the children in the class but I have to say that after that week the light box didn’t see much light.

A few days ago one of the princesses, 3 and a half years old , in the middle of a pre-writing sensitive period, was tracing  some patterns on the sand tray (ziz-zag,curved and straight lines...) that we have next to our metal insets. When we had a eureka moment!

We rescued the light box, we got the patterns, papers , and colored pencils. This is what happened!

   

                                     

In a matter of 15 minutes she had already traced lots of them. When she finished she made a little

booklet. Using colored paper for a cover and stapling the whole lot.

What I liked the most , a part form dusting the light box, was to see  her self-confidence and how

proud she was of what she had just accomplished. In the video you can ear, whispering not 

to disturb her fellow classmates, I did it! I did it! Which translates: I did! I did it!
