Presentación Caja de Sonido Montessori

La caja de Sonidos Montessori es un gran recurso. Tanto si es en caja como en bolsitas a los niños les encanta. Hay muchas extensiones para esta actividad y queda pendiente hacer un post exclusivamente con todas las extensiones. Pero vamos a ir por partes y vamos a familiarizarnos con este material.

Objetivo

Directo

Empezar a identificar el sonido inicial de objetos. Empezar a hacer la asociación de que las palabras están formadas de una suma de diferentes sonidos. 

Indirecto

Reforzar la idea de que existe un alfabeto y las letras que lo constituyen.

Control de Error

Comparando el sonido del los otros objetos que hay en un mismo cajón. Es decir si tenemos una Manzana, una Mariposa, una Maleta y un Plátano , comparando con los otros objetos el niño se podrá dar cuenta que el plátano no va en ese cajón.

Edad

2,5 años en adelante (después de que el niño haya trabajado con las letras de lija, también se puede hacer simultaneamente aunque no es tan recomendable )

Presentación

1. Introducir al niño la caja de sonidos en la estantería e invítalo a traerla a la alfombra de trabajo.
2. Señala los cajones y sus letras. Señala uno y pide al niño que de el sonido de la letra.
3. Abre el cajón y explica le al niño que en cada cajón encontraremos objetos que empiezan por ese sonido.( sonido inicial)                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 
4. Saca todos los objetos del cajón y nombra los.
5. Invita al niño a que encuentre la letra de lija correspondiente y que la traiga a la alfombra de trabajo.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               
6. Empieza una conversión con el niño sobre los objetos que habéis encontrado en ese cajón.
7. Guarda los y prosigue a inspeccionar otro cajón, otro sonido exagerando el sonido inicial de cada objeto.
8. Devuele el material a su sitio inicial.
9. Invita al niño a encontrar objetos para la caja de sonidos en casa ya sea para compartir los con la clase o para hacer su propia caja de sonidos.

This Montessori material is a great resource. There are many extensions to this activity and I promise to dedicate a post exclusively to the extensions and all the possibilities that this material offers. But let's start slow until you and the child becomes familiar with this material.

Whether you have made phonetic pouches or organized it in a box with drawers the children just love to use it over and over again.

Purpose

Direct

The Aim of this material is to start identifying the initial sound of objects. Starts making the association that a word is made up of a sum of different sounds.

Indirect

Reinforce the idea that there is an alphabet. To gain vocabulary.

Error control

By comparing the sound of the objects found in the same drawer. For example If we have an apple, an ant, an atlas and a banana in the same drawer, by comparing  the initial sound off all the objects the child will realize that  “banana” doesn’t go in that “a” drawer.

Age

2.5 years onwards (after the child has worked with the sandpaper letters ,it can also be done simultaneously although I do prefer the child to be comfortable with sounds first.)

Presentation

        1.   Introduce the child the alphabet box on the shelf and invite him to bring it to the work mat or table.

1.  2. Point out that each drawer has a different letter. Points to one and asks the child to say the sound of that specific letter.
   3.   Open the drawer and explain the child that we can find objects in each drawer that begins with that specific sound.    4.   Get all objects in the drawer and name them one by one.
   5.   Invites the child to find the corresponding sandpaper letter and to bring it to the work mat.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             
   6.   Start a conversation with the child about the objects you have found in that drawer. Their color , their shape...
   7.   Once you have finish discussing the objects pack them away and continues to inspect another drawer (another sound) stressing the initial sound of each object.
   8.   Once finished return the box or pouch to its place on the shelf.
   9.   Invite the child to find objects for the alphabet box at home, either to share with the class or to make his own alphabet box.
